Meet your Telephone Account Manager Nick Tew

Nick, tell us about your role at OneFamily.

I help advisers meet the needs of their customers. I help them understand their customers’ options, including our lifetime mortgage proposition, and answer adviser enquiries.

Advisers typically want to know more about our products to ensure our lifetime mortgages are a good fit for their customer’s needs, or about our process. If they have a more complex case I can guide them to our Underwriters for further consideration.

I have presented at numerous events, which more recently have been “virtual” via video conference. Sometimes this involves talking to advisers in the mainstream mortgage market who may be considering getting into equity release.

How have you found the transition to virtual events and do you see these changes being long term?

It’s been great to see how the industry and our business has responded to unprecedented circumstances in 2020. It’s been good to connect with advisers using the technology at our fingertips, our webinars were a good example of this. It’s something we’re sure to do more of moving forward.

That said, I do miss the face-to-face connection of live events, and am looking forward to getting out there again as and when it is safe to do so.

What’s the best thing about your role?

The best thing about my role is communicating with advisers and helping them to help their clients achieve their goals. Maybe they are raising money to help children or grandchildren, buying a holiday home, a motorhome, a cruise or just to help them lead a comfortable life in their later years.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

I am married to Jennie (and have been for 28 years) and we have 2 children, Dan (24) and Ellie (22). We have a dog, Albie (6) a Cavachon, and George (8) a lucky black cat.

In my younger days I played football in the Sussex County League for Lancing and my main claim to fame is that I have scored a goal in the FA Cup, albeit in an Extra Preliminary Round match.

Once I retired from playing I coached my son’s Under 6s team up until Under 18s.
